The importance of mold sensitivity in nonallergic rhinitis patients

Local allergic rhinitis (LAR) may be present in patients diagnosed with nonallergic rhinitis (NAR). Nasal allergen provocation tests (NAPT) can help diagnose LAR in patients with persistent rhinitis symptoms, even with negative allergy tests.

  • Nasal allergen provocation testing (NAPT) appears to be a valuable tool for diagnosing LAR in patients with persistent rhinitis symptoms.
  • This study is the first to assess local nasal allergic responses to both indoor and outdoor molds in this patient population.
