Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) serum and inflammatory cytokines alter gene expression in human osteocytes, affecting bone remodeling proteins and cytokines. These findings suggest osteocytes may be a therapeutic target for preventing bone loss in RA.

- These findings highlight the role of osteocytes in the bone's response to systemic inflammation in RA.
- Osteocytes represent a potential therapeutic target for mitigating inflammation-induced bone loss in rheumatoid arthritis.
