Benign lymphangioendothelioma is a rare lymphatic tumor presenting as a slow-growing skin lesion. Accurate diagnosis is crucial to differentiate it from malignant conditions like angiosarcoma, impacting treatment and prognosis.

Background:

  • Benign lymphangioendothelioma is an uncommon, locally infiltrative lymphatic tumor.
  • Presents as a slow-growing, asymptomatic, reddish-violaceous macule or plaque.
  • Histopathology reveals thin-walled endothelial-lined spaces within collagen strands.

Observation:

  • A 24-year-old female presented with a 2-year history of a raised lesion on her left leg.
  • The lesion was associated with minimal itching.
  • Biopsy demonstrated thin-walled vascular channels lined by bland endothelial cells at the dermo-epidermal junction, with additional dermal vessels.

Findings:

  • Histopathological examination confirmed features consistent with benign lymphangioendothelioma.
  • The endothelial cells were noted to be bland, with no atypical features observed.
