Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the effects of renal transplantation on cognitive function and brain white matter integrity in ESRD patients.
  • To explore the reversibility of cognitive impairment and brain structural changes post-transplantation.

Main Methods:

  • Prospective observational cohort study of ESRD patients undergoing renal transplantation.
  • Neuropsychological tests assessed cognitive function (memory, executive function) before and 3 months after transplant.
  • Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) evaluated brain white matter integrity pre- and post-transplant.
