[A-mode echography of frontal sinus aplasia]

Twenty-five patients with radiologically proven unilateral frontal sinuses were examined by A-mode ultrasound and the aplastic sinus was compared with the air-filled sinus on the other side. The number of echoes as well as the amplitude and time behaviour of each side were recorded. Statistical evaluation showed no difference in the sonographic parameters between the two sides. Identification of aplastic frontal sinuses by ultrasound is not possible.
