Summary

Robotic partial nephrectomy (RPN) for kidney cancer during pregnancy is feasible and safe for mother and fetus. This case highlights the importance of multidisciplinary care and careful surgical planning in managing renal neoplasms during gestation.

Background:

Renal masses during pregnancy are rare and pose unique management challenges.
Early detection and intervention are crucial for favorable outcomes in both mother and fetus.

Observation:

A 35-year-old pregnant woman at 20 weeks gestation presented with a large, suspicious renal mass.
Magnetic resonance imaging confirmed a 7.5 cm right upper-pole renal mass, concerning for malignancy.

Findings:

Robotic partial nephrectomy (RPN) was successfully performed, preserving 70% of renal parenchyma.
The procedure involved meticulous perioperative planning and multidisciplinary coordination.
Pathology revealed a 6.6 cm chromophobe renal cell carcinoma with clear margins.

Implications:

RPN during pregnancy is a viable option for treating renal neoplasms.
Successful outcomes depend on a collaborative approach involving urology, obstetrics, and maternal-fetal medicine specialists.
This case establishes a precedent for managing similar complex cases in pregnant patients.
