[Postmenopausal osteoporosis: its epidemiology, prevention and treatment]

Postmenopausal osteoporosis is a burden both to the society and to its victims. Many factors concur to make this burden heavier. Yet the means of prophylaxis are available. Curative therapy, once the disease is established, is at hand, but much remains to be done in this area.
