[Antibiotic therapy for odontogenic induced orofacial infections under office conditions]
ZWR

Abstract:
Due to the dominance of anaerobics in dentogen-induced orofacial inflammations the possibility of their treatment is restricted to a few groups of substances of different chemical structure (penicillins, lincosamides, nitroimidazoles, tetracyclins and macrolide antibiotics) for ambulant patients. The order of application for these different substances is determined by the local diagnosis and the pathophysiological state of the patient. The general anamnesis of disease, drugs and allergy as well as the knowledge of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of the substances to be applied are, therefore, indispensible for an optimal antimicrobial therapy.
