A new video sharing architecture enables government agencies in the National Capital Region (NCR) to share closed-circuit television (CCTV) video feeds seamlessly. This system improves emergency response by allowing different agencies to view each other's video without new software.
Area of Science:
- Public Safety Technology
- Information Systems Engineering
- Emergency Management Systems
Background:
- Multiple government agencies in the National Capital Region (NCR) utilize disparate closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems.
- Lack of interoperability between these CCTV systems hinders collaborative emergency response efforts.
Purpose of the Study:
- To develop a critical solution for CCTV video interoperability across diverse government agencies in the NCR.
- To facilitate seamless video sharing for enhanced emergency preparedness and response.
Main Methods:
- A layered architecture was designed, comprising a data layer for source video, an integration layer for format normalization and aggregation, and a presentation layer for universal viewing.
- A native mobile application was developed to access the presentation layer, enabling smartphone-based video sharing.
Main Results:
- The architecture allows agencies to view external CCTV video within their existing applications, eliminating the need for new software or systems.
- A native mobile application was successfully developed, providing cross-platform access to shared video feeds.
Conclusions:
- An efficient and cost-effective video sharing architecture has been established for the NCR, creating an interoperable CCTV environment.
- The system successfully enables video sharing via a native mobile application, enhancing communication and collaboration during critical events.
