Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA was not found to be significantly present in macular amyloidosis skin lesions. This study concludes that EBV does not play a role in the pathogenesis of this skin condition.

- EBV DNA (BLLF1 gene) was detected in 8 cases (3.8%) and 15 controls (23.8%).
- No statistically significant difference in EBV DNA presence was observed between the groups (P = 0.08).
Conclusions:
- The study found no significant association between Epstein-Barr virus and macular amyloidosis.
- EBV is unlikely to be involved in the pathogenesis of macular amyloidosis.
