The Elevate™ kit offers good results for vaginal prolapse repair, with 90% anatomical success and acceptable rates of de novo dyspareunia. Patient sexuality and quality of life showed satisfactory outcomes post-surgery.
Area of Science:
- Urogynecology
- Pelvic Floor Surgery
- Sexual Health
Background:
- Symptomatic urogenital prolapse affects quality of life and sexual function.
- Vaginal prolapse repair aims to restore anatomy and improve patient well-being.
Purpose of the Study:
- To evaluate the impact of the Elevate™ kit for vaginal prolapse repair on patient sexuality.
- To assess anatomical outcomes, quality of life, and complications after using the Elevate™ kit.
Main Methods:
- Retrospective study of 177 patients undergoing prolapse repair with the Elevate™ kit (anterior and/or posterior).
- Sexual function assessed using the Pelvic Organ Prolapse/Incontinence Sexual Function Questionnaire (PISQ-12).
- Anatomical outcomes and quality of life evaluated using POP-Q, PFDI20, and PFIQ-7 questionnaires.
Main Results:
- A 53.1% response rate with a mean follow-up of 29 months.
- 49% of patients were sexually active post-procedure, with an average PISQ-12 score of 34.5/48.
- 90% anatomical success rate; de novo dyspareunia occurred in 10.8% of patients.
Conclusions:
- The Elevate™ kit provides satisfactory functional and anatomical results for vaginal prolapse repair.
- The rate of de novo dyspareunia is considered acceptable when compared to existing literature.
- The study supports the Elevate™ kit as an effective option for prolapse surgery.
