Post-infectious irritable bowel syndrome (PI-IBS) presents with more diarrhea and anxiety than non-PI-IBS. PI-IBS also shows higher levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and intestinal fatty acid binding protein (IFABP), suggesting different mechanisms and treatment strategies.
