[Choice of technic for periapical radiography and determination of exposure time]

The factors which influence the choice of the radiographic technique are discussed. It is concluded that the long cone technique is preferable because of its simplicity, efficiency, the quality of the image and the low radiation dose. A description is given of the penetrometer method ascribed to Wainwright for arranging an exposure table for a certain X-ray machine - timer combination.
