The Availability Heuristic

A heuristic is a general problem-solving framework (Tversky & Kahneman, 1974). You can think of these as mental shortcuts that are used to solve problems. Summary

Quality of Life (QOL) is significantly impacted by chronic heart failure symptoms and treatments. Left Ventricle Assist Devices (LVADs) offer substantial QOL improvements for advanced heart failure patients, enabling greater autonomy.

Background:

Chronic heart failure (CHF) negatively impacts patients' Quality of Life (QOL) through various symptoms like dyspnea and fatigue, and disrupts social and personal life.
Physician-assessed parameters like NYHA class do not fully capture patient-reported QOL alterations in CHF.
Existing QOL assessment tools range from generic to disease-specific, including the Minnesota Living With Heart Failure Questionnaire.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the impact of different interventions on the Quality of Life (QOL) in patients with chronic heart failure.
To compare the effectiveness of pharmacological treatments, cardiac resynchronization, multidisciplinary programs, and mechanical circulatory support in improving QOL.

Review of existing literature on QOL assessment in heart failure.
