Summary

Solo-surgeon retroauricular thyroidectomy is a safe and feasible endoscopic approach for papillary thyroid carcinoma. This technique demonstrated comparable outcomes to conventional methods without significant complications.

Main Results:

No postoperative complications such as vocal cord paralysis or hematoma were observed in the solo-surgeon group.
Operating times and drainage volumes were not significantly different compared to a control group of 100 patients undergoing conventional retroauricular thyroidectomy.
The mean patient age was 36.0 ± 11.1 years, with all participants being female.

Conclusions:

Solo-surgeon retroauricular thyroidectomy is a safe and feasible surgical option.
Competency in endoscopic thyroidectomy is crucial for successful solo-surgeon implementation.
The technique offers comparable results to traditional methods, enhancing minimally invasive surgical options.
