Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the potential role of endogenous formaldehyde as a risk factor for primary open angle glaucoma.
  • To explore the correlation between endogenous FA levels and the severity of glaucomatous defects.

Main Methods:

  • A study involving 34 elderly patients with POAG and 16 healthy controls.
  • Analysis of morning urine samples using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to measure endogenous FA levels in a double-blind manner.
