    Summary

Hepatic pregnancy, a rare ectopic pregnancy, requires advanced imaging like ultrasound, CT, and MRI for accurate diagnosis and surgical planning. These techniques are crucial for minimizing surgical injury in this life-threatening condition.

    Area of Science:

    • Reproductive Medicine
    • Diagnostic Imaging
    • Surgical Planning

    Background:

    • Hepatic pregnancy is an extremely rare and potentially life-threatening form of ectopic pregnancy.
    • Early and accurate diagnosis is critical for maternal survival.

    Observation:

    • A 33-year-old woman presented with 5 days of intermittent upper abdominal pain.
    • Abdominopelvic ultrasound revealed hepatic pregnancy.
    • Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) confirmed the diagnosis and detailed regional anatomy.

    Findings:

    • Multimodality imaging, including ultrasound, CT, and MRI, effectively diagnosed hepatic pregnancy.
    • Preoperative imaging delineated the anatomical details crucial for surgical intervention.

    Implications:

    • Advanced imaging techniques are vital for the precise anatomical definition required in hepatic pregnancy cases.
    • Accurate preoperative imaging minimizes surgical injury and improves patient outcomes in hepatic pregnancy.
