Summary

Informing bariatric surgery patients and doctors about nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) risks did not reduce NSAID use. This intervention was ineffective in preventing NSAID use post-surgery.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess an intervention's effectiveness in reducing NSAID use after bariatric surgery.
  • To evaluate proton pump inhibitor (PPI) use among NSAID users post-bariatric surgery.

Main Methods:

  • Randomized controlled trial comparing an intervention group to a control group.
  • Intervention involved informing patients and general practitioners about NSAID risks via letter.
  • Dispensing data for NSAIDs and PPIs were collected pre- and post-intervention.
