Use of laser knife in thoracic surgery

CO2 laser knife was applied in 18 thoracic operations. The laser knife can be used for the sterile and ablastic cutting of skin, soft parts, ribs, sternum, bronchi and lung parenchyma. By its use intraoperative bleeding is substantially diminished.
