Background:

Neurofibromatosis is a group of genetic disorders characterized by the development of tumors in the nervous system.
Segmental neurofibromatosis (SNF), classified as NF-type 5, is a rare manifestation with localized lesions.
SNF can be challenging to diagnose, especially with limited clinical presentation.

Observation:

A 28-year-old patient presented with multiple papules and nodules.
Lesions were distributed in a dermatomal pattern on the trunk.
The presentation suggested a localized form of neurofibromatosis.

Findings:

Histopathological examination confirmed non-encapsulated, well-circumscribed spindle cell neoplasms.
The findings were consistent with neurofibromas, the characteristic tumors of neurofibromatosis.
Biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of segmental neurofibromatosis.

Implications:

This case underscores the variability of neurofibromatosis presentation.
Early recognition of SNF is crucial for appropriate management.
