Summary

Vein grafts in hyperlipidemic rabbits showed increased intimal thickness due to lipid-laden macrophages, not smooth muscle cell proliferation. This suggests hyperlipidemia exacerbates atherosclerosis in vein grafts via macrophage accumulation.
