Area of Science:
- Biomedical Imaging
- Molecular Probes
- Optical Spectroscopy
Background:
- Near-infrared (NIR) imaging offers advantages in biological applications due to deeper tissue penetration.
- Developing efficient molecular probes for NIR-to-NIR upconversion is crucial for improving imaging sensitivity and resolution.
Purpose of the Study:
- To demonstrate a novel molecular upconversion probe, NRh-1, for enhanced bioimaging applications.
- To evaluate the photophysical properties and in vivo behavior of the NRh-1 probe.
Main Methods:
- Synthesis and characterization of the NRh-1 molecular upconversion probe.
- Measurement of photostability and quantum yield.
- Assessment of rapid excretion capability and tissue penetration in biological models.
Main Results:
- The NRh-1 probe exhibited excellent photostability and a high quantum yield of up to 1.8%.
- The probe demonstrated rapid excretion capability from biological systems.
- NIR-to-NIR upconversion technique using NRh-1 resulted in improved signal-to-noise ratios and enhanced tissue penetration depth.
Conclusions:
- The NRh-1 molecular upconversion probe is a promising tool for advanced bioimaging.
- Its properties enable deeper and clearer imaging with reduced background noise.
- NRh-1 facilitates improved diagnostic and therapeutic monitoring in biological systems.
