Bacillus thuringiensis serovar, thuringiensis produces thuricin, a large bacteriocin with antibacterial activity against other Bacillus thuringiensis strains and some Gram-positive bacteria. This proteinaceous toxin exhibits phospholipase A activity and its production is linked to a 150-MDa plasmid.
