Epidural morphine decreases postoperative hypertension by attenuating sympathetic nervous system hyperactivity

Epidural morphine sulfate effectively reduced postoperative hypertension following aortic surgery by lowering sympathetic nervous system activity. This intervention also decreased pain and the need for additional opioid analgesics.
