    Squamous acanthoma, a rare skin lesion, was studied in two new cases. One case resolved after trauma removal, supporting the theory of traumatic etiology for this condition.

    Background:

    • Squamous acanthoma is a rare benign epithelial skin neoplasm.
    • Understanding the etiology of squamous acanthoma is crucial for diagnosis and management.

    Observation:

    • Two new cases of squamous acanthoma were analyzed.
    • Clinical characteristics were compared with eight previously reported cases.
    • One new case demonstrated lesion resolution following the elimination of local trauma.

    Findings:

    • The two new cases align clinically with previously documented instances of squamous acanthoma.
    • The resolution of one case after trauma removal supports a traumatic etiology theory.
    • This finding reinforces the hypothesis that physical irritation may trigger squamous acanthoma development.

    Implications:

    • The findings suggest that identifying and removing sources of chronic trauma may be a therapeutic strategy for squamous acanthoma.
    • Further research into the role of mechanical irritation in epithelial hyperplasia is warranted.
    • This study contributes to the understanding of the pathogenesis of benign skin tumors.
