    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To compare the marginal sealing properties of Cavit, zinc polycarboxylate cement, and silver amalgam as root canal retrofilling materials.
    • To evaluate the effect of aging on the sealability of these materials over a 6-month period.
    • To assess the in vitro sealability of these materials after a short setting period.

    Main Methods:

    • In vivo study: Retrofillings placed in dog teeth apices, extracted after 6 months for marginal leakage evaluation using C14-labeled urea.
    • In vitro study: Retrofillings placed in extracted teeth, set for 2 days in saline, then evaluated for marginal leakage using C14-labeled urea.
