Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate how different processing speed correction algorithms alter Stroop interference scores in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients compared to non-PD controls.
  • To assess the convergent and divergent validity of these corrected Stroop scores.

Main Methods:

  • Linear regressions were used to compare PD and non-PD groups across five interference scores (Jensen's, Golden's, relative, ratio, residualized).
  • Demographic factors were controlled for in the analyses.
  • Interference scores were correlated with standardized measures of processing speed and executive function.

  • Significant group differences were observed for Jensen's interference score, but not for Golden's, relative, ratio, or residualized scores.

  • Relative, ratio, and residualized Stroop interference scores are comparable for assessing individuals with processing speed impairments.
