Intralipid in acute caffeine intoxication: a case report.

- Despite advanced life support, including defibrillation and medications, the patient remained hemodynamically unstable.
- Intravenous lipid emulsion (Intralipid) was administered due to refractory cardiac instability.
Findings:
- Intralipid infusion successfully stabilized the patient's cardiovascular system.
- Plasma caffeine levels remained supra-lethal (>120 mg/L) after lipid emulsion, indicating its effectiveness.
- The patient survived without neurological complications.
Implications:
- Intravenous lipid emulsion is a potentially life-saving treatment for severe caffeine overdose.
- Intralipid may act as a "scavenging mechanism" for lipophilic toxins.
- This case expands the use of Intralipid beyond local anesthetic systemic toxicity.
