Japanese healthcare and social sciences sectors require a unified approach to collaborative practice.
Existing frameworks may not adequately address the specific needs of the Japanese context.

Purpose of the Study:

To identify and formulate a comprehensive set of interprofessional competencies for Japanese students and healthcare practitioners.
To establish Japan's first national interprofessional competency framework.
To enhance the preparedness of the healthcare workforce for collaborative practice.

Main Methods:

A multi-stage project involving literature review, data collection, and prototype development.
Collaboration with professional organizations, including the Japan Society for Medical Education.
A consensus formation stage involving academic societies and stakeholders.
A three-year government-funded initiative under Mie University's program.
