Two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) reveals impaired left atrial (LA) function in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). A global longitudinal LA strain during ventricular systole (GLAs-res) value below 17.5% aids in diagnosing HFpEF.
