Summary

Aerococcus-like organisms (ALO) are rarely found in urinary tract infections (UTIs). This study identified ALO in 29 patients, with many showing typical UTI symptoms, suggesting it can cause infection, especially in older adults.

  • To investigate the prevalence and clinical significance of Aerococcus-like organisms (ALO) in patients with suspected urinary tract infections.
  • To phenotypically characterize isolated ALO strains and compare them with related species.

  • Isolation and significant enumeration of ALO from patient samples.
  • Phenotypic comparison of 29 ALO strains with six related bacterial species using colony morphology, biochemical tests, and antibiotic susceptibility patterns.
