Area of Science:

  • Orthopedics
  • Traumatology
  • Hand Surgery

Background:

  • Carpal dislocations are rare but serious wrist injuries.
  • Management of complex carpal fracture dislocations presents significant challenges.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the long-term outcomes of various treatments for carpal dislocations.
  • To establish guidelines for the optimal management of simple and complex carpal dislocations.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective review of 33 carpal dislocation cases.
  • Analysis of treatment strategies for 9 simple lunate dislocations.
  • Evaluation of management for 24 complex fracture dislocations.

Main Results:

  • Detailed outcomes for each treatment approach were assessed.

Related Experiment Videos

  • The study identified factors influencing successful management.
  • Long-term functional results were correlated with initial treatment.
  • Conclusions:

    • Specific management protocols are crucial for different types of carpal dislocations.
    • Early and accurate diagnosis impacts long-term patient outcomes.
    • A standardized approach to complex carpal fracture dislocations improves results.
