Abstract:
An unusual case of transverse trapezium fracture with complete displacement of the distal fragment is reported. Diagnosis was delayed and physical findings were minimal. The intact deep palmar (oblique) ligament prevented trapeziometacarpal dislocation (instability). Open reduction and internal fixation resulted in union with excellent thumb function.
