Context:

Oxcarbazepine is an antiepileptic drug, an analogue of carbamazepine.
The active metabolites, mono-hydroxylated derivatives (MHD), are crucial for its anticonvulsant effect.
Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of MHD is considered for optimizing treatment.
