Summary

A rare case of oncocyte-type renal cell carcinoma was identified. Despite a well-circumscribed appearance, the tumor exhibited invasive growth and venous invasion, highlighting the importance of thorough pathological evaluation for kidney cancer.

Background:

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) encompasses a spectrum of kidney tumors.
Oncocytic tumors of the kidney, including oncocyte-type RCC, represent a distinct histological subtype.
Accurate diagnosis and characterization are crucial for patient management.

Observation:

A case involving a tumor in the upper posterior left kidney is presented.
The renal mass was predominantly well-circumscribed.
Histopathological examination revealed features of oncocyte-type renal cell carcinoma.

Findings:

The tumor demonstrated expansion into the intraparenchymal renal space.
Evidence of invasive growth into surrounding kidney tissue was observed.
