Abstract:
The paper considers various modes of fixation and treatment of renal tissue biopsies for immunoelectron microscopic examinations. A simple and effective procedure was proposed to detect immunoglobulins and complement components at the ultrastructural level. The biopsy specimens were fixed with a mixture of 2% paraformaldehyde and 0.05% glutaraldehyde with 0.05% saponin, then they were impregnated with increasing concentrations of glycerin and frozen. Immunoglobulins and complement components were identified by indirect immunoperoxidase method using cryostat sections.
