Gastrointestinal dysfunction in Parkinson disease (PD) is linked to alpha-synuclein (α-SYN) buildup in the enteric nervous system (ENS). This study found α-SYN deposition correlates with digestive issues and PD severity, suggesting ENS exploration as a diagnostic marker.
