Abstract:
Thyroglossal duct carcinoma is a very rare tumor. Extracapsular invasion is even less common and can result in possible extension of the tumor into the surrounding musculature without metastatic lymphadenopathy. A case of a 13-year-old adolescent is presented to illustrate this problem. In this case a Sistrunk operation and total thyroidectomy followed by I131 ablation and thyroid hormone suppression was considered the treatment of choice.
