Unusual Metastasis from Carcinoma Cervix

Background:

• Cervical cancer incidence has declined in India, yet advanced stages remain prevalent in tertiary care.
• A significant percentage of cervical cancer cases at this center are diagnosed in Stage III and IVa.

Purpose of the Study:

• To report on treatment outcomes and metastatic patterns in advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix.
• To highlight the occurrence of metastasis in rare sites and inform clinical follow-up strategies.

• Patients with advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix (Stage III/IVa) were treated with combined external and intracavitary radiotherapy.
• Concurrent weekly cisplatin chemotherapy was administered.
• Treatment response and patterns of recurrence/metastasis were monitored.

• A high complete response rate of 89.9% was achieved with the combined treatment.
• Local recurrence occurred in 17.9% of patients.
