Background:

Eustachian tube dysfunction (ETD) presents limited treatment options.
Eustachian tube balloon dilation is an emerging therapeutic approach.

Purpose of the Study:

To systematically review the safety and efficacy of eustachian tube balloon dilation for ETD.

Main Methods:

A systematic literature review was conducted.
Included nine prospective studies with pooled and qualitative data analysis.

Main Results:

713 eustachian tube balloon dilations in 474 patients were analyzed.
Significant improvement in Valsalva maneuver performance and tympanometry (Type A) post-procedure.
Follow-up ranged from 1.5 to 18 months.

Conclusions:

Eustachian tube balloon dilation is a safe procedure based on prospective case series.
Further investigation is warranted to establish higher levels of evidence for its efficacy in treating chronic ETD.
