L1CAM as a prognostic marker in stage I endometrial cancer: a validation study

L1 cell adhesion molecule (L1CAM) overexpression is linked to aggressive endometrial cancer. However, this study found L1CAM expression was not a significant predictor of relapse or death in early-stage disease, except in patients not receiving chemotherapy.

- L1CAM is associated with a more aggressive tumor type and distant relapses.
- The overall recurrence rate was low, limiting the power to detect significant differences.
- L1CAM did not prove to be a clinically relevant marker of poor prognosis in this independent cohort of stage I endometrioid EC.
