Angina I: Introduction01:30

Angina I: Introduction

651
Definition and Symptoms: Angina (angina pectoris) is chest pain or discomfort caused by myocardial ischemia, which occurs when the heart muscle receives insufficient oxygen-rich blood. It typically manifests as pressing, squeezing, or crushing sensations in the chest and may radiate to the shoulders, arms, neck, jaw, or back.Primary Cause: In a healthy state, the coronary arteries can dilate (widen) to increase blood flow and meet the increased oxygen demand during physical activity or...

Disorders of the Female Reproductive System

4.7K
The female reproductive system can be affected by several disorders, including Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), endometriosis, and various forms of cancer. PMS and PMDD are cyclical conditions that cause physical and emotional distress, with symptoms that include edema, mood swings, and food cravings. PMDD is a more severe form of PMS characterized by increased symptom severity that peaks during the luteal phase and tends to improve or resolve shortly after...

Angina III: Clinical Manifestations and Assessment

345
Angina manifests as chest pain, tightness, or squeezing discomfort typically located behind the breastbone. It can radiate to the neck, jaw, shoulders, and inner aspects of the upper arms, most commonly the left arm. Patients may experience shortness of breath, fatigue, profuse sweating, dizziness, indigestion, heartburn, palpitations, anxiety, and vomiting as accompanying symptoms. This pain often lasts a few minutes and is triggered by physical exertion, emotional stress, heavy meals, or cold...

Factors Affecting Drug Distribution: Miscellaneous Factors

1.2K
Drug distribution in the human body is a complex process influenced by various individual factors, including age, pregnancy, obesity, diet, body water composition, pH levels, and specific disease conditions.
Age plays a significant role due to differences in body composition among different age groups. Infants, for instance, have a higher proportion of total body water and lower albumin levels, a protein that binds drugs in the bloodstream. This unique composition in infants enhances the...

Angina V: Nursing Management

475
Angina, a symptom of myocardial ischemia, requires a structured nursing management approach to ensure effective care and prevent complications like myocardial infarction. Comprehensive nursing care involves assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes, all tailored to the individual patient's needs.Patient AssessmentNursing assessment begins with a detailed subjective evaluation of symptoms, which typically include chest pain or pressure radiating to the...

Area of Science:

  • Oncology
  • Radiology
  • General Surgery

Background:

  • Breast pain (mastalgia) is a common clinical complaint leading to referrals.
  • Understanding mastalgia's causes is crucial for patient management and diagnosis.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To identify factors contributing to mastalgia.
  • To explore the relationship between mastalgia and benign or malignant breast diseases.

Main Methods:

  • Prospective analysis of survey data and imaging findings from 700 patients.
  • Comparison of mastalgia and asymptomatic patient groups.

Main Results:

  • Mastalgia associated with stressful lifestyle, caffeine, smoking, and frequent lactation (≥3 times).
  • Increased breast density and BI-RADS 2 findings correlated with mastalgia.
  • Higher incidence of cysts, fibroadenomas, and prior malignant breast disease in the mastalgia group.

Conclusions:

  • Stress, caffeine, smoking, lactation frequency, and benign breast conditions are associated with mastalgia.
  • A significant link between mastalgia and malignant breast disease was observed, warranting further investigation.
