Abstract:
Sixty consecutive patients who underwent Charnley low friction arthroplasty of the hip were investigated for the presence of deep vein thrombosis. All were given Dextran 70 prophylaxis. Using bilateral venography on the ninth post-operative day an incidence of 6.6 per cent was found. The findings are discussed.
