Some 'in vitro' effects of bacterial filtrates on normal lymphocytes and leukaemic cells

It was found that 'in vitro' lymphocyte cultures from normal individuals transformed non-specifically in response to certain bacterial filtrates. Filtrate treated lymphocytes stimulated autologous lymphocytes in a mixed leucocyte test and treated leukaemic blasts produced higher stimulation of remission lymphocytes than untreated blasts. The relevance of these observations is discussed.
