Esmolol treatment for refractory ventricular fibrillation in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest significantly increased sustained return of spontaneous circulation. This suggests potential benefits for ICU survival in these critical patients.

Background:
- Refractory ventricular fibrillation (RVF) in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) presents a significant clinical challenge.
