Penicillin remains a first-choice antibiotic for Group A beta-haemolytic streptococci (GABHS) tonsillopharyngitis due to its cost-effectiveness and low resistance. While some antibiotics show modest benefits, overall differences in symptom resolution are not clinically significant.
