β-Nitrostyrenes as Potential Anti-leishmanial Agents

New β-nitrostyrenes show potent antileishmanial activity against Leishmania donovani. These compounds are effective against both promastigotes and amastigotes and are non-toxic to mammalian cells.

- The non-toxic profile and mechanism involving nitric oxide induction warrant further investigation.
