[Terminology, clinical picture and treatment of atopic dermatitis and neurodermatitis]

Analysis of 66 cases with neurodermatitis has made it possible to distinguish five conditions: atopic dermatitis, diffuse, disseminated, or local neurodermatitis, prurigo. Each of these nosologic entities in characterized by a specific course. The authors consider that the term 'atopic dermatitis' is inadequate and should be changed.
