Area of Science:

  • Urology
  • Minimally Invasive Surgery
  • Oncology

Background:

  • Renal tumors present a significant clinical challenge, particularly in patients with multiple comorbidities.
  • Papillary renal cell carcinoma is a common subtype requiring effective treatment strategies.
  • Minimally invasive techniques are increasingly preferred for renal tumor ablation.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To report the feasibility of robot-assisted retroperitoneal cryoablation for a renal tumor.
  • To describe the surgical technique for this minimally invasive procedure.
  • To evaluate this approach in a patient with papillary renal cell carcinoma.

Main Methods:

  • A 74-year-old male patient with comorbidities underwent the procedure.
  • A 3.6 cm right posterior renal hilar mass, confirmed as papillary renal cell carcinoma, was targeted.
