Purpose of the Study:

  • Nineteen turkeys were fed diets containing either sulfadimethoxine or sulfaquinoxaline for seven days.

    • Serum concentrations of sulfadimethoxine and sulfaquinoxaline can reliably predict tissue residue levels in turkeys.
    • The pharmacokinetic data supports the use of serum analysis for monitoring sulfonamide withdrawal periods.
    • These findings contribute to ensuring the safety of turkey meat for consumption.
